NVidia driver update causes Magics and other software to crash

Who is impacted
Users of NVidia graphics cards with driver version

The latest update of the NVidia GeForce driver is causing a crash with the latest versions of Magics, 3-matic, and potentially other Materialise software. On older versions, crashes might only happen while exiting the software, though it will create a glitched, unusable view.
The issue appears with driver version Rolling back to version fixes the issue.

Our development teams are working on the issue and this article will be updated when more information is available.

A crash report is shown right after launching Magics

  • In the Windows search bar, type “Device Manager”
  • Look for display adapters, right-click on the NVidia card, and select “Properties”
  • Click the "Driver" tab, and select “Roll Back Driver”

Note: This is a temporary fix and Windows Update might reinstall the new NVidia driver on reboot.
