Configuration of connections to End User Portal for online license activation

Connections to End User Portal

End User Portal (EUP) is the licensing and entitlement management system that keeps track of which licenses are available, who owns them, and how they can be used.

When a product tries to activate a license online, it must connect to EUP to validate the license.

Whitelist IP addresses

Make sure that the following IP addresses are allowed for outbound communication:

  • IPv4:
    AWS EU: 185.146.152.64/27
  • IPv6:
    AWS EU: 2a07:4f80:20:200::/56

EUP is using the standard port for HTTPS which is 443. Ensure this port is reachable by the user’s PC.

Update trusted root certificates

If the customers PC is able to connect to EUP but still unable to activate a license, the root cause could be missing or outdated root certificates.

Update the root certificates by following the next steps:

  • Open PowerShell as Administrator
  • Execute the following commands

-Certutil -f -generateSSTFromWU root_store.sst

-Import-Certificate -CertStoreLocation Cert:\LocalMachine\Root -FilePath .\root_store.sst"
