Magics RP - switch to subscription (annual)

Learn about the changes to licensing

With the upcoming release of Materialise Magics, we’d like to announce adjustments to our licensing and payment plans. As of May 15, 2024, Magics will only support subscription-based licensing for new seats or modules.

By moving to a subscription-based model, we can provide continuous software updates and support, ensuring you always have access to the latest features, bug fixes, and compatibility with the ever-changing landscape of 3D printing technologies.

To maintain our commitment to providing the highest quality software, we will continue heavily investing in ongoing improvements and testing, including fixed quarterly maintenance releases.

What do you get with subscription-based licensing?

  • Gain early access to the latest features and advancements in 3D printing data preparation
  • Adjust the number of licenses with greater flexibility to match your annual demands
  • Try new modules with less risk and initial investment
  • Benefit from our first-rate technical support and software releases
  • Learn how to use additive manufacturing and industrial software to its full potential with Materialise training

What’s the difference between the new subscription model and the current maintenance contracts?

The subscription model will have all the benefits of the maintenance contract.

I am an active maintenance customer. Can I renew my contract on its expiration date?

Yes, you can renew it as usual.

I do not have an active maintenance contract. Can I still buy one after May 15th 2024?

No, after May 15, 2024, you can only buy Magics and its modules on a subscription basis, which includes all the benefits of a maintenance contract. After May 15, 2024, we will offer a buy-back program where you can trade in your perpetual license for a 3 year annual subscription based license with up to a 50% discount.

How can I apply for the buy-back program?

Contact your local account manager or sales representative to see if you qualify for this program and to find out more about the terms and conditions.

Can I keep my existing perpetual licenses?

Yes. Any version of Magics you have already bought with a perpetual license will remain yours. However, if you want to add additional licenses, you can only do so on a subscription basis as of May 15th 2024.

What about floating licenses?

If you have an active floating license, you can add additional connections according to your current contract terms. If you are a customer with a perpetual license wishing to upgrade to a floating license, you will need to switch to the subscription model.

What if I decide not to renew my existing maintenance contract?

If you do not renew your existing maintenance contract, you will not be able to upgrade to future versions of Magics. It will also not be possible anymore to renew a maintenance contract on your existing perpetual license.
In order to get access again to our new versions and support a subscription license will be needed.
After May 15, 2024, we will offer a buy-back program for a limited time only where you can trade in your perpetual license for a 3 year annual subscription based license with up to a 50% discount.
